Native to the ancient regions of Mesopotamia, Palestine and Egypt, it has spread over time throughout the Mediterranean basin, eventually arriving in America and the East as well.
\nThe common fig (Ficus carica) grows well in warm, dry climates, but it fears frost and cannot tolerate too cold temperatures. For this reason it is often found in temperate but well sheltered areas.
\nIts fruits, which we all know as figs, have a typical teardrop shape and their color varies according to variety. The skin can also be more or less thick, smooth or wrinkled. Actually, what we call a fruit is a fleshy inflorescence that contains many small grains inside: those, yes, are the real fruits of the plant.
\nThe leaves of the fig tree are very distinctive, with large, irregular lobes that are easy to recognize. When a fruit is detached from the plant, a white liquid, a natural substance produced by the plant itself, leaks from the petiole.
\nThe fig is a simple, hardy and generous plant that has accompanied the seasons and the tables of many cultures for centuries. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The fig compote, made with sweet and juicy fruits grown in Piedmont, stands out for its velvety texture and natural richness in fibre and minerals. The fruit is harvested by hand in the early hours of the morning to best preserve its freshness and quality.
\nFor every 100 grams of compote, 155 grams of fresh figs are used, reflecting the generosity of the recipe and the artisanal care taken in its preparation.
\nThis compote is the ideal accompaniment to cheese and meat platters: it goes beautifully with mature cheeses such as pecorino, gorgonzola or Castelmagno, but also with flavourful meats such as roasts, cured meats and game. Its naturally sweet taste, balanced by the tartness of the fruit, creates a refined contrast that enhances the intense and structured flavours of savoury dishes. A versatile and gourmet choice, perfect for appetisers, aperitifs or main courses with character.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8013,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"product_brand":[],"product_cat":[89],"product_tag":[720,719],"class_list":{"0":"post-10727","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-abbinamenti-formaggi-e-carni","7":"product_tag-fico","8":"product_tag-fichi","10":"first","11":"instock","12":"shipping-taxable","13":"purchasable","14":"product-type-simple"},"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/10727","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8013"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10727"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_brand","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_brand?post=10727"},{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=10727"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mprunotto.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=10727"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
