It is here, near the Prunotto Mariangela farm, that this variety has found the ideal conditions to thrive.
The Madernassa mother plant, grown at the Gavello farmstead, was cut down in 1914, when it had already reached an age of about 130 years, with a trunk circumference of 2.60 metres and a productivity of over 25 quintals. This cultivar is believed to derive from a natural cross between the Martin Sec variety and a wild pear tree, from which it inherited its robustness and rusticity.
Madernassa is very present in the gastronomic tradition of Roero, especially during the autumn and winter months. The tree is vigorous, resistant and very fertile, although older plants may be subject to alternating production. It blooms in mid-early season and has the peculiarity of being a parthenocarpic variety, i.e. capable of producing fruit even without seeds.

Madernassa pear compote is made with the finest pears, harvested from our orchards at the peak of ripeness and processed within a few hours. After being carefully cleaned and washed, the pears are simply cooked in a pot with cane sugar using the ‘open sky’ method, which enhances their authentic flavour and preserves the artisanal characteristics of homemade preparations.
To produce 100 grams of compote, 130 grams of juicy fresh pears are used, resulting in a product that is ideal for enjoying on **toasted bread with mountain butter**, for a rich and refined breakfast or snack.
It pairs perfectly with mature or blue cheeses, such as Gorgonzola or Castelmagno, creating a very elegant sweet-savoury contrast. It is also excellent with roasted white meats or to accompany a platter of delicate cold cuts. For those with a sweet tooth, it can be served with crepes, hazelnut cakes or as a filling for rustic baked desserts.

[65,563
733,638
0":"post-10751","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-confetture","7":"product_cat-le-originali","8":"product_tag-frutta","9":"product_tag-pere","11":"first","12":"instock","13":"shipping-taxable","14":"purchasable","15":"product-type-simple
["GET
