Varietal characteristics
The wild bilberry is a spontaneous plant native to Europe. It grows to a height of 20–40 cm and has angular, branched stems. Flowering occurs in May, while fruiting takes place mainly in July and August. The fruits appear as single or paired berries, black in colour, covered with a light bloom and with coloured flesh.
During the summer season, when bilberries are abundant, they are harvested and processed.
