Caramelised Apple Compote

Our apple compote is a delicious combination of Piedmontese apples and caramel, offering a rich and enveloping flavour, perfect for enriching desserts and breakfasts. Each spoonful offers intense sweetness and a velvety texture, enhancing the genuine taste of apples. It is a delicious variation on traditional apple jam, enriched with the sweet and slightly burnt flavour of caramel. The quality of the product is guaranteed by the high percentage of fruit used: 135 grams of fresh apples are used to make 100 grams of compote.

Varietal Characteristics

Apples are the fruit of a tree belonging to the Rosaceae family and originate from Central Asia. Apple cultivation has very ancient roots, dating back to the Neolithic period. In Italy, there are about 2,000 varieties of apples, many of which are carefully cultivated in Piedmont, thanks to the favourable climate and long agricultural tradition.
The apple tree is a deciduous tree that can reach a height of 5-12 metres. It has a wide, dense crown and shallow roots. The leaves are oval in shape, 5 to 12 cm long, with a smooth upper surface and a slightly hairy underside. The flowers, which bloom in spring, are white with pink hues, grouped in small clusters, and have a delicate fragrance. Pollination occurs thanks to insects.
The fruit of the apple tree, i.e. the apple, is round in shape and can vary in colour from green-yellow to red, depending on the variety. In the centre is the core, which contains the seeds and is the hardest part of the fruit. Ripening occurs between summer and autumn.

Apples 92%, cane sugar.
